Christian County school system, industries partner to open child care facility in 2023

Inspire Early Learning Academy will be located at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School and initially will have space for 120 children.

A new child care center will be established at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School to serve employees of Christian County Public Schools and industrial partners who are helping fund the program.

The center will be called Inspire Early Learning Academy, according to a press release from the school system and South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council

It is slated to open in the fall of 2023 — with capacity for 120 children ages 2, 3 and 4 — to help ease the burden of finding child care in the area.

“The center will be a fully licensed child care facility with generous operating hours to help accommodate various working families’ schedules,” the release states. “The registration process will be established in the coming months and will be communicated prior to the application window opening.”

Businesses in the Hopkinsville Industrial Park have pledged $80,000 to help with startup costs, officials said.

“Establishing the early learning center partnership with CCPS is an exciting opportunity for our workforce and all of Christian County,” said Carter Hendricks, SWKEDC executive director. “Parents can go to work, knowing their most precious treasures are receiving the highest quality of care. It’s a win for the workforce, Christian County Schools and for parents.”
