Public schools will be closed Thursday because of icy conditions

The county's private schools are returning to classes but on a one-hour delay.

Christian County Public Schools will remain closed Thursday while the county’s three private schools — University Heights Academy, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic School and Heritage Christian Academy — will return to classes but on a one-hour delay.

The public schools will continue non-traditional instruction, the district said in a press release.

“The decision to remain closed to in-person instruction is due to the icy conditions on county roadways and school campus parking lots being ice covered,” the release states.

There is a slight chance of freezing rain Thursday morning, according the National Weather Service forecast. The high temperature will be around 40 degrees.
