Planned power outage to affect large area of Hopkinsville next week

The outage is necessary to perform system maintenance to the HES distribution system.

A planned power outage will affect most areas of Hopkinsville west of Main Street from shortly before midnight Tuesday, July 6, until early the next morning, according to a Hopkinsville Electric System news release.

“The outage is necessary to perform system maintenance to the HES distribution system in the affected area,” an officials said in the release. “Residents may want to cool their houses more than normal before the outage occurs. HES recommends that customers not open refrigerators or freezers to retain the cold for the foods inside.”

If no problems occur during the upgrade, HES expects the power to be restored by 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Neighborhoods that will be affected include Cox Mill Estates, Deepwood, Donna Drive, Indian Hills, West Seventh Street, North Drive and Sanderson Drive.
