The reception and meet-and-greet will begin at 4:30 p.m., and remarks will follow at 5 p.m., Mayor Carter Hendricks’ office announced.

Futrell has been a Hopkinsville firefighter since 1999. Most recently, he served as deputy chief and was an interim head of the department following Freddie Montgomery’s retirement last summer to become fire chief in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Hopkinsville City Council voted unanimously, on the mayor’s recommendation, at its Sept. 17 meeting to promote Futrell to chief. As chief, his annual salary is $91,397.

Anyone planning to attend the pinning ceremony is asked to RSVP by calling 270-890-0215 or emailing ndurham@hopkinsvilleky.us.

The Bruce Center address is 303 Conference Center Drive, off Lovers Lane.
