Christian County now scheduling COVID-19 vaccine appointments for all of Phase 1C

The phase includes anyone 60 and older, anyone age 16 or older with the highest-risk conditions per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and all essential workers.

The Christian County Health Department is now scheduling appointments for all individuals in Phase 1C, department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney Brunt announced in a news release Wednesday afternoon. The phase includes anyone 60 and older, anyone age 16* or older with the highest-risk conditions per guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and all essential workers.

(*Editor’s note: While the phase includes anyone 16 and older, the Christian County Health Department is administering the Moderna vaccine, which has only been approved for individuals 18 and older.)

Appointments can be made online or by calling the health department at 270-887-4160 ext. 640. For faster service, the public is encouraged to schedule appointments using the online portal.

The department, which operates a regional distribution site located at the James E. Bruce Convention Center, began offering immunizations last week to individuals age 60 and older, but had not previously opened up eligibility for all of Phase 1C.

Essential workers should come prepared to provide proof of eligibility, according to the release. A pay stub with the worker’s name, along with a photo ID, would be accepted, Sweeney Brunt told Hoptown Chronicle.

Appointments will be made available as supply allows, Sweeney Brunt said, adding that the health department receives 1,000 Moderna vaccine doses each week.
