Pennyrile RC&D and Focus 21st Century slate health care forum Sept. 9 in Hopkinsville

Several medical providers and others with expertise in health topics have been invited to speak and answer questions

Community members are invited to a forum on health care in Christian County from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Virginia Street Baptist Church’s Fellowship Hall. 

Several medical providers and others with expertise in health topics have been invited to speak and answer questions. They include:

  • Family practice physician Dr. Chester Crump
  • Hopkinsville dentist Dr. Tresa Coney White
  • Jennie Stuart Medical Center staff members Janice Johnson (obstetrics nurse manager), Ciera Wilford (maternity team leader) and Mark Laramie (chief financial officer)
  • Christian County Health Department spokeswoman Cloie Rager
  • Hopkinsville optometrist Dr. John Heltsley 
  • Director of Independent Living for Pennyrile Area Development District Jill Collins

“The forum is a community effort of Pennyrile RC&D Area Council Inc., Focus 21st Century Minority Leadership Program Inc., and others to address health care concerns in Christian and adjoining counties,” organizers said in a press release. 

Topics to be addressed will include the state of health in Christian County, why individuals should see a doctor, eye doctor and dentist, food insecurity, transportation issues related to health care, the need for physical activity and the value of Medicare and Medicaid to the community. 

Attendees may arrive at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments before the forum begins.
