J. Todd Darnell, 54 of Pembroke, died Wednesday Jan. 15, at St. Thomas-West in Nashville, Tennessee, of natural causes. A Hopkinsville native, he was Pembroke’s city clerk for eight years. He was a member of Pembroke Baptist Church. A joint funeral service for J. Todd Darnell and his father, John Darnell, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with burial to follow in Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Brenda Joyce Alexander, 73, of Crofton, died at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Greenville Nursing & Rehab Center. A native of Chicago, she was materials manager for Freudenberg. She was a member of Crofton Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, at Dogwood Funerals & Cremations of Crofton. Burial will follow in Ridgetop Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
James Omie White Sr., 76, of Hopkinsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, in Hopkinsville. A Christian County native, he was retired from Phelps Dodge. He was a member of Virginia Street Baptist Church. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Cave Springs Cemetery. Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mabel Gray, 84, of Cadiz. died Jan. 17 at Redbanks Nursing Facility in Henderson. Born at Cynthiana, she was a former special education teacher and later worked as a team truck driver with her husband. She was a member of Northwest Baptist Church, Hopkinsville. Bermont “Gene” Johnson, 86, of Hopkinsville, died on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center. A native of Trigg County, he was a pastor and founder of Grace Ministries, where he had served for more than 30 years. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Grace Ministries, 720 N. Elm St., Hopkinsville. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour Saturday at the church. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Edward Earl “Baebae” Poindexter, 65, of Hopkinsville, died on Saturday, Jan. 11, in Hopkinsville. He worked in construction as a handyman and was a member of Durrett Avenue Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Gamble Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
Walter Lee “Blue” Bacon, 88, died on Saturday, Jan. 11, at his home. He was employed at Mobile Feed Services and Federal Chemical. He spent the last 18 years of employment at Hopkinsville Elevator. After retiring, he spent time on his farm, raising livestock. He was a member of Little River Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at noon Monday, Jan. 20, at Gamble Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Double Barn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the service hour Monday at the funeral home.
Savannah Lynn Gloyd, 31, of Hopkinsville, died on Monday, Jan. 13, at her home. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, she was of the Christian faith. Julia Mae Bailey West, 88, of Hopkinsville, died on Saturday, Jan. 11, in Hopkinsville. A native of Christian County, she was a member of Durrett Avenue Baptist Church and was employed in the dietary department at Western State Hospital, where she retired from in 1991. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Durrett Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cave Springs Cemetery. Linda Lou Overton Spurlin, 76, of Hopkinsville, died at 4:15 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Christian Health Center. She was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church, a homemaker and had also worked as a nurse and childcare provider. Funeral services will be private. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Contributions may take the form of donations to Pennyroyal Hospice.
Nancy Ann Sisk Junker, 86, of Hopkinsville, died on Monday, Jan. 13, at her home. A native of Todd County, Kentucky, she was a resident of Hopkinsville most of her life. She worked in real estate before dedicating many years to serving the state of Kentucky at the Cabinet for Human Resources until her retirement. She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, at Faith Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon until the service hour Thursday at the church. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Jack Palmer, 81, of Hopkinsville, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Christian Health Center. A native of Washington, Iowa, he was a U.S. Army veteran and the owner of Touch of Luxury Window Treatments. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
