The number of people in Christian County who have recovered from COVID-19 is growing, while the overall number of confirmed infections continues to inch up at a slower pace, according to daily reports from the county health department.
The county’s total on Friday was 86 cases, up one from the previous day, health department spokeswoman Amanda Sweeney said during the twice-weekly teleconference on local coronavirus developments. The number includes 47 people who had recovered by Friday, 36 who still had an active case, and three deaths (reported on April 8).
The number of confirmed cases by age group are:
- Pediatric (0-21): 1
- Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 21
- Older Adult (60-84): 14
- Elderly (85+): 0
Jennie Stuart Medical Center had 14 patients in its COVID-19 unit Friday, said Beth McCraw, vice president for nursing and clinical care. Four of the patients have tested positive for the respiratory disease, and the other 10 are awaiting a test result.
Over the past five weeks, Jennie Stuart has administered 1,074 tests for COVID-19. Most of those have been done at the drive-thru site at the hospital’s Express Lab on Eagle Way bypass, and a smaller number occurred at the hospital’s main campus.
The health department recently opened a second drive-thru site at Tie Breaker Park. As of Friday, 208 people had been tested there.
