The governor said the law would create an obstacle for Kentuckians trying to vote, especially during the coronavirus pandemic when offices that provide ID cards are closed to in-person traffic.

The governor said he has spent more than $8 million on personal protective equipment, and "I’m gonna spend what it takes."

Health experts say it's too early to change course, but Trump adopted the line of thought in an interview Tuesday with Fox News, saying he “would love to have the country opened up, and just raring to go, by Easter."

The order comes from Kentucky’s public health commissioner and the acting secretary of Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

The governor also said all in-person services from state government would cease by the end of Tuesday.

Beshear stressed the proposed budget has more debt going off the books over the next two years than what will accumulate.

Senate Bill 1 now heads to the House for consideration.

One of the bill's sponsors said it won't solve all of the state's fiscal problems, but he called it a "good first step."

Beshear, the state's attorney general, is trying to prevent Republican Matt Bevin from winning a second term as governor.

Democrat Greg Stumbo faces Republican Daniel Cameron in the Nov. 5 general election.

In his ruling, Chief Justice John Minton wrote that the case “should serve as a cautionary tale to all Kentucky judges who use social media.”
