New tour cards feature Hopkinsville sculptures by Steve Shields

The cards are available in the Visitor Center on East Ninth Street.

The late artist Steve Shields left a legacy of sculpture art in Hopkinsville and beyond. Now two Hopkinsville organizations have collaborated on new tour cards to help locals and visitors find those works in his hometown.

The tour cards highlight eight sculptures in Hopkinsville, the Hopkinsville-Christian County Convention and Visitors Bureau announced in a Facebook post. The bureau worked with the Hopkinsville Art Guild to create the cards. They are available at the Visitors Center, 1730 E. Ninth St.

“Stop in the Visitors Center to pick up a tour card, learn more about Shields’ creative process and explore these incredible sculptures for yourself,” a bureau representative said in the Facebook post.

Shields also created sculptures for Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and for the community of Gander, Newfoundland, among several locations.
