Milkweed hosting Big Read book discussion Wednesday

Hopkinsville Community College faculty member Christa Granderson will lead the discussion of Ross Gay's book of poetry.

Christa Granderson, a faculty member at Hopkinsville Community College, will lead a Big Read book discussion of Ross Gay’s “Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude” at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 18, at Milkweed Health and Harmony Emporium, 202 E. Ninth St.

Gay’s use of memory in his poems is one topic Granderson said she will touch upon during the discussion. It is open to the public.

Granderson teaches English and literature at HCC and she is a member of the Round Table Writers’ Group. She is a veteran of the U.S. Army and National Guard. 

“Catalog of Unabashed Gratitude” explores life, death and their many tides through 24 lyric poems. It was a National Book Award finalist. 

This is the ninth Big Read in Hopkinsville supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Events continue through mid-November.
