This summer, members of the U.S. military and their families will be admitted free of charge to the Pennyroyal Area Museum as part of the national Blue Stars Museums initiative that begins on Armed Forces Day, May 20, and runs through Labor Day, Sept. 4.
Blue Star Museums is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families in collaboration with the Department of Defense and museums across the country, states a press release from Alissa Keller, executive director of the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County.
Keller said the Military Affairs Committee and the Pennyroyal Area Museum will kick off the Blue Star summer with a Super Saturday event featuring crafts, games and special activities on May 20.
Members of all branches of the military, along with five family members, are eligible for free admission by showing military identification.
The museum, 217 E. Ninth St., Hopkinsville, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
