Christian Heights United Methodist Church, 805 North Drive, is inviting community members to plant a raised garden or use a garden tub on the church grounds.
For raised beds, the church will provide ground space measuring 10 by 3 feet, along with lumber for the border, plastic ground cover, and soil and manure (as supplies last), church pastor Donna Williams said.
Gardeners will be responsible for additional topsoil, soil prep, seeds, planting and maintenance of their space. In addition, they will take care of distributing the produce they grow and then dismantle and clean up the space at the end of the season.
“We look forward to meeting and working with fellow gardeners in our community,” Williams said.
Anyone who is interested in setting up a garden should contact Christian Heights United Methodist Church by email at garden@christianheightsumc.org or by calling the church office at 270-886-2597.
The church will have an in-person sign-in at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 5. The garden spots will be available beginning April 12, and the church will have helpers available to give gardening advice.
