Memorial Day service planned at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West

The service, sponsored by the local VFW, begins at 11 a.m. Monday at the cemetery on Fort Campbell Boulevard.

U.S. Army veteran Robert Kaminski, of Hopkinsville, will be the featured speaker for the Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. Monday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West, 5817 Fort Campbell Blvd. 

Kaminiski is the state commander for the Kentucky Disabled American Veterans and also serves as the DAV chapter commander in Hopkinsville. He retired from the military following 14 years of service in the Army and National Guard.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1913 is sponsoring the service, and the VFW Honor Guard will present the colors. 

Cemetery manager Kimberly Eberling and VFW Commander John Brame will place a wreath honoring veterans. Johnny Brown will play “Taps,” and retired chaplain Rich Cooper will give the benediction. 

Following the service, there will be a lunch at the VFW Post off Skyline Drive. 

Government offices and banks will be closed Monday for the holiday.
