The seventeen high school students will meet monthly with city officials and serve as a youth voice for local government.

“I am proud to welcome the new members of MYCity as they assume a vital role representing the voice of Hopkinsville’s youth,” Mayor Carter Hendricks said. “I look forward to hearing their ideas and creative solutions on current topics in our community. The council is student-led so it is interesting to see them be a part of the government process.”

The students selected for the council are: Destinee Allen, Olivia Bostick, Macey Dukes, T’Khiyah Trice-Wilford, of Christian County High School; Luke Bottoms, Elizabeth Pitts and Katelyn Steger, of Heritage Christian Academy; Destiny Davie, Anna “Mara” Howell, James “Tyler” Kinney, Carter Pollard, Garrett Pyle, Averie Turner and Anna Watson, of Hopkinsville High School; Hayden Tripp, a home-schooler; and Rohan Desai and  Kinsley Livingston, of University Heights Academy.

The Mayor’s Youth Council will meet from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of each month in the council chambers of City Hall.
