If elected, how would you help address the housing shortage?

We need to work on infrastructure in Christian County to be able to support new housing developments such as internet, roads, etc.

If elected, how would you work together with government, nonprofit and business leaders to encourage economic development?

I believe we should partner with Hopkinsville Community College and all local high schools to create a work force to attract businesses to Christian County. County and city leaders need to work together to promote the jobs that exists in our community before we try to create new ones.

If elected, how would you support tornado recovery and the development of rural storm shelters?

This hits close to home as many were directly affected in recent tornadoes. It is extremely important for the community to unite and help each other during difficult times. Christian County showed out in December. Local government needs to work with state and federal agencies to try to get funding for as many tornado shelters as possible.

If elected, what specific steps would you take to help grow jobs in the area?

Everywhere you go, there are help wanted signs posted. We need to get the people of Christian County back to work. It's up to each individual company to make sure they are paying reasonable salaries and creating a workplace where people want to stay and work.

Do you support reducing the county’s tax burden? If so, what steps would you take to make this happen?

The biggest complaint I always hear are about taxes. They are a fact of life and we need them to pay for things the county needs. However, I believe elected officials need to work together to make sure they are spending taxpayer money appropriately and effectively. Wasteful spending is a problem. Every dollar spent needs to be accounted for and justified.

Do you support the establishment of a library tax?

I do not support establishing new taxes for the people of Christian County. But I am in favor of supporting the library by evaluating our current budget.

Is there another issue not addressed in these questions that you believe is extremely important? If so, please explain it briefly.

Volunteer fire departments are the heart of our rural communities. However, they have to deal with "dead spots" with their radios. When on a call, it is critical that they can contact other officials to get out necessary information. I believe that county and city officials need to improve the current radio systems that they are using.
