Live at the Alhambra’s new season announced

Tickets are being sold now for the series that includes six shows, starting with a Beatles tribute band and concluding with Steep Canyon Rangers

The Pennyroyal Arts Council is selling tickets for its 2023-24 Live at the Alhambra series, which includes six shows ranging from a Beatles tribute to an Irish-style Christmas concert and a stand-up comedian.

The shows are:

  • Beatles tribute band Ones on Sept. 23 — A full orchestra accompanies the band performing hits from the Beatles’ U.S. debut on “The Ed Sullivan Show” in 1964 until their break up in 1970.
  • Sons of Mystro on Nov. 10 — These proteges of Black Violin, who entertained last year for a sold-out show at the Alhambra, use their violins to interpret reggae and American pop songs while performing with a drummer and disc jockey.
  • Christmas in Killarney on Dec. 21 — The show, created by award winning Irish dancer Scott Doherty and worldwide touring Irish musician Chris Smithset, is set in the 1920s and blends dance with Christmas classics.
  • Alfreda Sings Aretha on Feb. 16 — Alfreda, who has performed with Cher, Celine Dion, Elton John and others, performs this tribute to the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin.
  • Comedian Jen Kober on March 23 — Kober, seen recently on Disney Plus’ “The Mandalorian,” entertains audiences with a blend of stand-up, storytelling and improvised rock ’n roll.
  • Steep Canyon Rangers on April 12 — The Grammy-winning musicians are known for “bending and shaping” bluegrass music in ways that make them one of the genre’s most influential groups.

“The upcoming season continues to celebrate the 95th birthday of our beloved Alhambra Theatre,” Margaret Prim, the arts council’s executive director, said in a press release. “We have curated some of the finest touring shows and are excited to bring this talent to our stage.”
