Library closes after employee tests positive for COVID-19

The library will reopen Feb. 1, according to a Facebook announcement.

The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library closed Monday after an employee tested positive for COVID-19, according to a Facebook announcement.

The library will remain closed until Monday, Feb. 1.

Library Director DeeAnna Sova told Hoptown Chronicle that the library is disinfected daily and cleaning will continue by an outside contractor while employees are out.

Patrons should hold their returns until the library reopens, and any books the library has on hold will remain held. Late fees won’t be charged during the closure. The library will not have grab-and-go kits on Saturday, Jan. 30.

“The Libby app is always open, and we encourage you to utilize this service during our closure,” a representative said in the Facebook announcement. “We apologize for any inconvenience and we look forward to seeing you on Monday, Feb. 1.”

Libby provides digital content, including some books, magazines and audio, to library card-holders.

Anyone with questions should contact Library Director DeeAnna Sova by email
