Lace up! The health department’s 100-Mile Challenge is back

Participants will be encouraged to walk at least 100 miles between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30.

Registration has been extended until Sept. 17 for the sixth annual 100-Mile Challenge, a community campaign to encourage healthy habits through daily walking and physical activity.

Participants in the Christian County Health Department program will be encouraged to walk at least 100 miles between Sept. 1 and Nov. 30.

Anyone interested can register in person at the health department, 1700 Canton St., or online, where participants can also download tracking sheets to log their walked miles. There’s a $10 fee, and everyone who registers will receive a 100-Mile Challenge T-shirt from the health department. The first 100 participants will also receive a water bottle and a hand-held fan.

A virtual awards ceremony is planned on Dec. 10. Participants will have a chance to prizes and receive awards for the most participation and miles walked in categories for individuals and agencies. There’s also a category for teachers and staff at schools.

The campaign theme is Walking Toward a Healthier You.

This story was updated to provide the new registration deadline.
