Knights of Columbus sponsoring blood drive

The blood drive will be Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Hopkinsville.

The Knights of Columbus Council 7847 is sponsoring a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Western Kentucky Regional Blood Center, 1902 S. Virginia St.

An organizer said every donor will receive a T-shirt — and for every pint of blood donated, the center will donate $5 to the Knights.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (or be 16 and have parental permission) and weigh at least 115 pounds. Also, donors must check their medications with the blood center staff and they must allow at least 56 days from their last donations. Identification is needed to donate blood. Medical questions should be directed to the blood center by calling 888-684-9296.

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic men’s fraternal organization. The local council is affiliated with Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The members support several charitable initiatives through the year, including distribution of food baskets during the holidays.
