Over the weekend, Kentucky had 253 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the state’s total to 5,130.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced the cases during his Sunday briefing. He had taken a break Saturday, when there was no briefing.
Five deaths from the respiratory disease caused by the novel coronavirus were reported Saturday. No deaths were reported as of Sunday afternoon.
At least 1,892 people in Kentucky have recovered from COVID-19, the governor said.
In the most recent update from the Christian County Health Department, on Friday, there were 91 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the start of the outbreak in March.
As of Friday, there were 26 active cases and 62 recovered cases locally. There have been three deaths in Christian County, all reported on April 8.
The number of active cases by age group were:
- Pediatric (0-21): 1
- Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 15
- Older Adult (60-84): 10
- Elderly (85+): 0
