The Kentucky Foundation for Women is accepting nominations for its Firestarter Award, which recognizes someone who shows potential as a young feminist artist who helps create change for women and girls in Kentucky through social justice and community engagement.
The deadline for nominations is July 31.
“Young people across Kentucky are making their voices heard and creating art to light the way to a new future,” the foundation said. “Do you know an artist who is young and innovative? Someone who is using their art for justice movements? Someone who is taking risks in their art-making and kindling the feminist fires of the future? If so, please consider nominating someone for 2021!”
Artists between the ages of 18 and 25 eligible. They should show potential for “high-quality art making, including taking risks in the creation of new art,” the foundation said.
Nominations are accepted online. Additional information about KFW and the award is available here.
