Katherine Demps, John Atkins win in local judicial races

Demps will serve in a newly created division of Family Court in Christian County.

Hopkinsville attorney Katherine Hicks Demps will become the Christian Circuit Court judge in a newly created second division of Family Court. 

Demps won the nonpartisan race against opponent Judy Hall, 8,038 to 4,546, according to preliminary election results in Tuesday’s general election. 

In another local judicial race, incumbent John Atkins defeated challenger Stephanie Bolen, 9,082 to 4,130, for the Division 2 seat in Christian Circuit Court. 

The county’s remaining judges were unopposed in their bids for reelection. They are:

  • Circuit Judge Andrew Self (Division 1)
  • Circuit Judge Jason Fleming (Division 3, Family Court) 
  • District Judge John Lindsey Adams (Division 1)
  • District Judge Foster Cotthoff (Division 2)
