The Jeffers Bend Environmental Center will have its third annual Hummingbird Festival from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 23.
Community members can learn about banding hummingbirds, Indian folklore, interesting facts about the tiny birds, how to make bird feeders, the importance of insects and feeding birds winter months.

Refreshments will be available, and there will be drawings for bird feeders and other prizes. Donations will be accepted during an auction for a hummingbird cake.
More than 250 people attended the festival in 2024, organizers said in a press release.
Jeffers Bend hosts the Hummingbird Festival with help from Pennyrile Resource Conservation and Development Area Council Inc., Little River Audubon Society, Christian County Master Gardeners, Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority, United Southern Bank and the city of Hopkinsville.
Jeffers Bend is located on the northern edge of Hopkinsville, off Metcalfe Lane.
