Hopkinsville Transit limiting number of passengers per bus; riders will need exact change for fare

The new policies are needed to accommodate social distancing.

Beginning Wednesday, March 25, Hopkinsville Transit buses will be limited to six passenger at a time, city officials announced.

The seats that riders may use will be designated.

This new policy is part of social distancing recommended by health officials to help reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that people maintain a distance of at least 6 feet.

Pennyrile Allied Community Services (PACS) runs the transit system for the city.

“Also, the sale of bus passes will be suspended at that time,” the city said in a news release outlining PACS’ new policies. “Riders will use exact change deposited in a designated receptacle to limit contact with drivers.”

A decision will be made later about when to return to normal transit operations.
