Hopkinsville Rotary donates $200,000 to Boys and Girls Club

The donation will help the Boys and Girls Club build a new 2,100-square-foot kitchen at its Walnut Street facility.

The Boys and Girls Club of Hopkinsville-Christian County is building a new kitchen and cafeteria to feed children in after-school programs. The group’s capital campaigned ended this week following a donation of $200,000 from the Hopkinsville Rotary Club.

Boys and Girls Club executive director Terrence Davis said they will break ground in September. He said the 2,100-square-foot facility will help the club serve consistent meals and provide additional space for kids. He said 145 kids a day currently attend after-school programs.

“And we hope to increase that by at least 20 kids with the addition of the cafeteria,” Davis said.

Davis said the kitchen and cafeteria costs almost $640,000 dollars and should be ready by next spring.
