Hopkinsville native named dean at Murray State University

Dr. R. Heath Keller will lead the Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business.

Hopkinsville native Dr. R. Heath Keller has been named the dean of Murray State University’s Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to represent, support and celebrate the great students, faculty and staff that make the Bauernfeind College of Business shine,” Keller said in a press release from the university. “It is my goal to foster the college’s strong legacy of excellence and scholarship as we work together toward the future.”

Departments in the business college that Keller will oversee are:

  • Accounting
  • Computer Science and Information Systems
  • Economics and Finance
  • Journalism and Mass Communications
  • Management, Marketing and Business Administration
  • Organizational Communication and Leadership

Keller’s appointment was made at the MSU Board of Regents meeting on Dec. 12. He had served as interim dean since January.  He was department chair for Management, Marketing and Business Administration from Aug. 2017 until he became interim dean. 

Keller received his doctorate degree in 2011 at Southern Illinois University. Murray hired him as an assistant professor. In 2016, he received the Regents Award for Teaching Excellence.

Keller is a graduate of Hopkinsville High School. His parents, Roy and Christi Keller, reside in Hopkinsville. His sister, Alissa Keller, is executive director of the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County.
