The Hopkinsville League of Women Voters is planning several voter education functions ahead of the November general election.
The league announced this week that it will host a Meet & Greet event to give local residents an opportunity to interact directly with candidates on the November ballot.
The Meet & Greet will begin at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at the Memorial Building, 1202 S. Virginia St.
The event also serves as a fundraiser for the league, and a donation of $10 is suggested for those attending. Light refreshments will be served.
League member Nikki Chambers said all candidates on the November ballot have been invited.
Voters who attend will be able to hear directly from candidates and learn where they stand on issues, according to the league’s plans for the event.

The league will have additional events in October related to voter education.
Candidate forums are planned Oct. 1, 5 and 19. Details on the times and races will be released later.
Also, the league will co-host with the city of Oak Grove a Meet the Candidate event at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, at the Oak Grove Community Center, 1705 Thompsonville Lane.
All of the Oak Grove candidates for mayor and council have been invited.
The general election is on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
In Hopkinsville, the mayor’s race will be the main focus for many voters. There are three candidates — Democrat Markeeta Wilkerson, Independent Desaepa Vansauwa and Republican Russ Guffey.
