Hopkinsville crews starting residential leaf collection

Residents may check the city’s route calendar or watch for signs in neighborhoods that announce when collections are planned on their street.

The city of Hopkinsville will begin residential leaf collection on Tuesday, Nov. 1, using large vacuum trucks. Residents who want their raked leaves collected curbside should check the city’s route calendar or watch for signs in neighborhoods that announce when collections are planned.

The trucks will “cross each section of the city, making two complete passes through each neighborhood and multiple passes on major thoroughfares,” an announcement on the city’s website states.

The collections will continue through Jan. 31, or until the second pass through every street has been completed.

Residents should not mix leaves with limbs, brush, sticks, trash, rocks, bricks, flower pots or other debris because these could damage the city’s equipment.

Additional information about placement of leaf piles is available in this announcement. Residents who have questions may call Hopkinsville Solid Waste at 270-887-6245 or 270-887-6244.
