Budget amendments, board appointments on Hopkinsville City Council agenda

The newly elected council will conduct its first meeting of 2021 by video conference.

The newly installed Hopkinsville City Council will conduct its first meeting of 2021 by video conference at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The public can view the meeting live through the city’s website or its Facebook page

The meeting agenda includes an ordinance waiving alcohol beverage license fees for 2021 and budget amendments adjusting the city’s 2020-21 revenue from approximately $40.56 million to $40.62 million.

In addition, Mayor Wendell Lynch will present executive orders with 26 appointments to boards and commissions.

Tuesday will mark Lynch’s first meeting as Hopkinsville’s elected mayor. He served most of 2020 as interim mayor following his appointment to fill the vacancy created when Carter Hendricks resigned office early to become the executive director of the South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council.

Following the 2020 general election, the council has four new members

Lynch and the 12 council members were sworn into office individually, to maintain social distance, on Dec. 29. The city posted a video compilation of the swearings-in.
