Hopkinsville Brewing Co. plans seventh annual Hoptoberfest on Saturday

The popular beard competition will be back, and there's a new food option this year.

Hopkinsville Brewing Co.’s seventh annual Hoptoberfest is Saturday, Sept. 23, and guests will find a new twist this year — a lobster food truck. Cousin’s Main Lobster will be serving from noon until 6 p.m.

Brewery co-owner Kate Russell said the lobster truck has been one of the more popular food options with brewery guests. This will be the truck’s third or fourth visit this year, she said.

Other aspects of Hoptoberfest have become HBC traditions, including the beard competition and the stein-holding contest.

Every year the brewery invites Hoptoberfest celebrants to show off a variety of beard styles, and a panel of judges picks the winners. There is an artificial beard division that makes space for women and children. Some of the created beards have been made with things like tree twigs and bottle caps.

The brewery, at 102 E. Fifth St., will be open from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday.
