Grace Episcopal Church, 216 E. Sixth St., has announced plans for its Lenten Lunches, beginning Feb. 16 and continuing every Friday through March 22.
Community members are invited to the services, which are a long held tradition at Grace Episcopal. Each Friday at noon there will be a brief service led by a Hopkinsville minister, followed by lunch in the church’s All Saints Hall.
Members of Grace prepare and serve the meals. A $10 donation is suggested. All of the proceeds go to Grace School.
The schedule for ministers leading the services and the lunches that are planned are as follows:
- Feb. 16 — The Very Rev. Steve Spicer, of Grace Episcopal. The meal will be poppy seed chicken.
- Feb. 23 — The Rev. Emmanuel Udoh, of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The meal will be chicken and rice.
- March 1 — The Rev. M.O. Fort, of Virginia Street Baptist Church. The meal will be Johnny Marzetti.
- March 8 — Donna Williams, lay pastor of Christian Heights United Methodist Church and founder of the Breaking Bread Community Dinner Church. The meal will be lasagna and vegetarian lasagna.
- March 15 — The Rev. Kamarr Richee, of Edgewood Baptist Church. A smorgasbord will be served.
- March 22 — The Rev. Chris Lewis, of First United Methodist Church. Soup will be served.
Lent is the season lasting 40 days when Christians prepare for Easter. It begins on Ash Wednesday, which is Feb. 14 this year. Easter is on March 31.
