Got Derby plans? The Kentucky Historical Society has a special video that will stream Saturday morning

Viewers will see some of the historical society's Derby-related collections, and Gov. Andy Beshear will offer a message.

What could ever replace the Kentucky Derby on Derby Day?

Nothing exactly.

But the Kentucky Historical Society and the KHS Foundation have an alternative to offer with a taste of some Derby traditions in a video that will stream at 8 a.m. (Central time) Saturday on Facebook. You’ll find it here.

The “Not-Derby Day Special” includes a message from Gov. Andy Beshear and an appearance by Kentuckian Damaris Phillips, the 2013 winner of “Food Network Star.” She’ll share her family’s sweet tea recipe.

Viewers will see some of the historical society’s Derby-related collections, and KHS Executive Director Scott Alvey will talk about Kentucky traditions. Museum Program Manager Megan Sauter has created a hat-making demonstration suitable for children, and KHS Curator Julie Kemper will present Derby fashions through history.

In addition to the presentation on Facebook, the video will be available on the KHS YouTube channel.
