The owners of two funeral home businesses are expanding to an additional location in Hopkinsville.
Dogwood Funerals and Cremations will open in a former church building on Country Club Lane in September, owners Alan W. Beard and Franklin Todd Giles announced.
Beard and Giles own Hughart, Beard and Giles Funeral Homes on South Virginia Street in Hopkinsville and Dogwood Funerals and Cremations on Princeton Street in Crofton.
“Last year we changed the focus of our funeral home in Crofton, and rebranded it (as Dogwood),” Giles told Hoptown Chronicle. “It is more of a low-cost provider. There is a need for that market, and that’s why we decided to expand.”
The expansion in Hopkinsville will provide better access to low-cost funeral and cremation services, according to a news release.
Giles said Dogwood is unique among low-cost funeral providers because it has facilities to offer visitation and funeral services. Most low-cost providers operate as a store-front without a place to accommodate those services, he said.
