National Weather Service issues freeze warnings for Kentucky, surrounding states

Temperatures will be in the 20s overnight Wednesday and Thursday in Hopkinsville.

Ambitious gardeners who’ve already put out flowers and started vegetables should take precautions to protect their plants from frost burns overnight Wednesday and Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued freeze warnings both nights for all of Kentucky and parts of surrounding states.

Hopkinsville’s temperatures will dip to 29 degrees before sunrise Thursday and to 24 degrees early Friday, according to the forecast

“Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing,” the NWS stated.

Outdoor water pipes should be drained. Property owners who have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to prevent freezing.

The forecast for Easter weekend is sunny and mild with a high of 62 on Saturday and 69 on Sunday.
