Freeman Chapel is hosting National Day of Prayer gathering for Hopkinsville

The service will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Freeman Chapel CME Church, 137 S. Virginia St., is inviting the community to its National Day of Prayer service at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 2, on the church lawn.

The Rev. Lisa Lewis Balboa

The Rev. Lisa Lewis Balboa, pastor at Freeman Chapel, said the service will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Otherwise it will be in the church sanctuary. Those attending may bring lawn chairs.

The service will include prayers led by several other ministers and lay people in the community, said Balboa.

“There are a lot of things that we need to pray about, and so we will,” she said.

The National Day of Prayer is traditionally observed on the first Thursday in May. The 2024 theme is “Lift up the lord, light up the world.”

Parking at Freeman Chapel is available behind the church in the lot adjacent to Second and Main streets.
