The next History on Tap — at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at Hopkinsville Brewing Co. — will be a presentation on Hopkinsville native Eugene Poole Jr., an architect and certified project construction manager who oversaw restoration of the U.S. Capitol dome and led the design and construction for three U.S. presidential inaugural ceremonies.

Taylor Hayes, president and CEO of the Christian County Chamber of Commerce, will led the program.

Poole, who was selected for the University of Kentucky Distinguished Alumni in 2021, is an Air Force veteran, a UK graduate and the former U.S. Capitol architect.

“In addition to his extensive resume as an architect, Dr. Poole is also an ordained minister, former professor of religion and philosophy, and a talented tapestry and quilt artist,” History on Tap organizers said in a press release from the Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County.
