First of 5 televised gubernatorial debates slated for October

Incumbent Republican Matt Bevin and Democratic challenger Andy Beshear are scheduled for five debates this fall.

Kentucky Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Andy Beshear has agreed to five televised debates with incumbent Republican Governor Matt Bevin ahead of November’s general election, and the first one is in west Kentucky.

The Paducah Chamber of Commerce will host the first debate in partnership with TV station WPSD on Oct. 3. Coverage will start at noon.

The rest of the debates are also scheduled for October:

  • The second debate will be on Oct. 15 in Lexington, hosted by the League of Women Voters in Lexington and station WKYT
  • The third is hosted in Louisville on Oct. 26, by the League of Women Voters in Louisville and station WLKY
  • The fourth is again in Lexington on Oct. 28, aired by KET
  • The final debate will be in Highland Heights on Oct. 29, hosted by Northern Kentucky University and station WLWT
  • There will also be a televised debate between lieutenant governor candidates, aired by KET on Oct. 21
