Two projects in Christian County will receive federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grants, Gov. Andy Beshear’s office said.
They are among 41 projects the governor selected for upgrades to park and recreation spaces across the state.
The city of Hopkinsville is receiving $75,000 to build two group shelters and a playground adjacent to the rail-trail’s Pardue Lane Trailhead.
Christian County government will receive $25,000 to help construct a covered pavilion at the Jeffers Bend Environmental Center.
“Parks and recreation spaces are an important part of every Kentucky community,” Beshear said in a news release. “They provide safe spaces for exercise, community-building and leisure, which are all important factors in ensuring Kentuckians are healthy and happy. Ultimately, parks and recreation spaces are a critical piece in building a better Kentucky for every family.”
The 41 projects announced Monday will receive more than $4.3 million.
