Drum circle class Tuesday at Alhambra

No drumming experience is needed to participate in the Pennyroyal Arts Council workshop.

Reservations are still available for a drum circle workshop led by a Kentucky artist at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, on the stage of the Alhambra Theatre.

Joan Brannon is teaching the “free spirit” drumming meditation class for the Pennyroyal Arts Council. No experience is needed to participate, and drums will be provided for those who don’t have one.

“She’ll lead the small group in various techniques as she shares the rich West African cultural traditions and history of drumming,” the arts council said in a  Facebook post. “No special skills are required to participate. The ultimate goal is to have a great time.”

The cost is $25. Registration is available online. Masks and social distancing will be enforced, according to the event web page.

An earlier version of this story gave an incorrect date for the drum circle class.
