Chef Shateeka Osborne, of Southern Belle Catering, will give a cooking demonstration Saturday at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Downtown Farmers Market. It begins at 10:30 a.m. inside the market pavilion at Founders Square.

Downtown Renaissance Director Holly Boggess said Osborne – known to her customers as Chef Teeka – will prepare mulberry basil grilled cheese, kale salad with sweet agave vinaigrette and a garden fresh salad.

The demonstration is part of a local promotion for the farmers market called “Local Taught, Market Bought.”

A limited number of ingredient boxes with most of the food needed to make the chef’s meal will be sold on a first-come basis, Boggess said. The boxes, $25 each, will contain a loaf of bread, four tomatoes, a quart of blackberries, three cucumbers, two heads of cauliflower and a small container of spiced pecans.

The Downtown Farmers Market is open 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday, running from April 27 through Oct. 31.
