Devin Brumfield will become director of the Christian County Health Department on Monday, Feb. 21, seven months after his appointment to lead the agency on an interim basis.
The county health board chose Brumfield for the job during a meeting Tuesday, department spokeswoman Cloie Rager confirmed.
Brumfield, who has a bachelor’s degree in business administration, has worked for the health department since November 2014 and previously served as the administrative services coordinator.
The health board made Brumfield the interim director when Kayla Bebout resigned last summer.
Bebout was among several county health directors in Kentucky who resigned during the coronavirus pandemic, citing stress and fatigue during a period of conflict with members of the public who didn’t agree with public health restrictions meant to reduce the spread of COVID-19. At the time, she told Kentucky Health News she needed to step away from the job for her mental, physical and spiritual well-being.
