Comefri USA employee receives HCC honor

William Camacho was named distinguished graduate in HOPFAME, an apprentice-style training program.

A Trigg County man who works for Comefri USA in Hopkinsville was named the 2021 HOPFAME distinguished graduate at Hopkinsville Community College.

William Camacho earned the Associate of Applied Science degree in Industrial Maintenance Technology at HCC last weekend. He was among 405 graduates in the class of 2021.

HOPFAME is the local chapter of the Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education, an apprentice-style training collaboration between colleges and manufacturers. Participants take classes two days a week at HCC and work for a local manufacturer three days a week. The program was launched in 2016. Since then, 38 participants have completed the five-semester program.

“Willie showed the leadership skills that are so needed in today’s employment market.  He was always willing to ask the questions that everyone wanted the answer to but were too afraid to ask.  He helped so many others in this COVID time,” Stuart Zieman, an assistant professor, said in a news release from the college.
