A cold weather advisory will be in effect for much of Western Kentucky, including Hopkinsville, from 6 p.m. Sunday until noon Monday.
The National Weather Service at Paducah said wind chills below zero are expected.
“Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure,” a NWS official said.
There is a chance of snow late Saturday and early Sunday, although accumulation will be less than an inch, according to the forecast.
Sunday’s high will be 26 degrees, and the low will be around 7 degrees. The wind chill could be as low as 4 degrees below zero.
Monday, which is Martin Luther King Day, will by sunny with a high around 22 and a low of 14. The bitter cold temperatures will persist through Tuesday.
