City officials to hold Hoptown Helps informational session on May 13

A question and answer session will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center.

Nonprofit organizations in Hopkinsville that want to apply for funding from city government may learn more about a new process called Hoptown Helps during an informational session at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Hopkinsville Municipal Center, 715 S. Virginia St.

Hopkinsville City Council approved the Hoptown Helps grant program earlier this year. Previously, funding for local nonprofits was determined during city budgeting process.

“This Q&A session will help guide applicants through the program guidelines, answer questions and support agencies in preparing complete and competitive applications,” city officials said in a press release.

The application deadline is May 31. City council’s Future Funding Committee will review applications in June and July and forward recommendations to the mayor’s office. Appropriations will be approved at the first council meeting in August.
