City officials invite Hopkinsville residents to help in designing marketing logo

The first step in a five-month process is a survey being conducted in August to gauge local perceptions about Hopkinsville's identity.

The city of Hopkinsville is inviting local residents to get involved in developing a city logo for marketing.

The first step in a five-month process is a survey being conducted in August to gauge local perceptions about Hopkinsville’s identity. The brief online query asks for ideas about the community’s personality, values, symbols and cultural icons.

The next steps, outlined in a press release from city hall, by month will include:

  • September — Design logo options. Secure a local graphic designer to draft 3-4 logo options and color schemes based on community input.
  • October — Finalize top logo designs. A selection committee, comprised of Hopkinsville citizens from the business, student, non-profit, agricultural, and arts and culture communities will collaborate with the designer to finalize 2-3 design options.
  • November — Put it to a vote. Present top designs and invite the community to vote for their favorite option.
  • December — Reveal the new logo. Following the community’s final vote, the new logo will be unveiled to the citizens of Hopkinsville.

“A strong and recognizable logo is essential for building a cohesive and vibrant brand that embodies our community’s identity, values and pride. This logo will be prominently featured across various platforms to promote our city, attract visitors and foster a sense of unity among residents,” the release states.

The logo will not replace Hopkinsville’s official city seal, which will continue to be used for city business and documentation.

Local graphic designers who are interested in creating the new logo should send three to four examples of their work and info about their hourly rate to city spokeswoman Amanda Brunt at Amanda.Brunt@h-ky.us.
