It might be a bit early for everyone to have their homes and businesses decked out for the holidays, but it’s not too soon for the public to start watching for their favorite decorations.
Between now and Dec. 18, you can nominate residences and businesses for the Hopkinsville Holiday Decoration Awards. The annual contest is organized by Hopkinsville Beautification in the Division of Public Works.
“The goal of the Holiday Decorations Contest is to recognize the efforts of Hopkinsville residents and businesses that encourage community pride and holiday spirit,” a Public Works representative said in a news release.
Nominations can be made by calling Public Works at 270-890-0703 or by going to Hopkinsville Beautification’s Facebook page or on the city’s website.
Judges will review the nominated locations the week of Dec. 23, and the winners will be announced on Dec. 28.
Best decorated residence will be awarded to one home in each of the city’s 12 wards. There will be one award for best decorated business.
Winners will receive a certificate of recognition and be featured in local news and social media. They will also be featured on the city’s website.
