City council set to conduct its 2nd meeting by videoconference

The public may view the meeting through a livestream on the city's website or on the city's Facebook page.

Hopkinsville City Council will meet for the second time by videoconference. The meeting is set for 6 p.m. Tuesday, and a Committee of the Whole meeting will follow at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The agenda includes a resolution that would commit the city to funding $500,000 for the Interstate 24 Industrial Corridor, for which a $25 million grant will be sought through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.

Also on the agenda is a municipal order to appoint Ward 4 Councilman Paul Henson as the presiding officer. The presiding officer serves at council meetings in the mayor’s absence.

Several executive orders on the agenda are set to appoint local residents to boards and commissions.

A March financial report from Chief Financial Officer Robert Martin will be given.

The mayor, council members, the city clerk and other city officials who typically attend council meetings will join the session remotely.

Members of the public may view the video through a live stream on the city’s website or on the city’s Facebook page.

The state has authorized an emergency coronavirus measure that ensures public officials meet from a distance to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
