Five additional cases of COVID-19 from Sunday and Monday raised the county’s total to 147 cases, according to a Christian County Health Department report.
The total included 33 active cases and 111 recovered, in addition to the county’s three coronavirus deaths reported on April 8.
The number of active cases by age group are:
- Pediatric (0-21): 3
- Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 27
- Older Adult (60-84): 3
- Elderly (85+): 0
In the first eight days of June, the county recorded 22 new cases. That is approximately 15% of the total number of cases since the start of the coronavirus outbreak in mid-March. The only other period with more cases locally was April 1-8, when 33 cases were reported.
Over the weekend, Christian County Health Director Kayla Bebout said gatherings and congregate settings were linked to a majority of the new cases in the past week. She declined to provide any information about the location or circumstances of the gatherings or settings.
Meanwhile, the health department is encouraging residents who participate in demonstrations to exercise safety measures to help prevent spreading the virus.
