Four newly confirmed cases of COVID-19 raised the county’s total to 117, the Christian County Health Department reported.
As of Friday, there were 17 active cases, and 97 recovered, in addition to the three deaths reported on April 8.
The number of confirmed, active cases by age group are:
- Pediatric (0-21): 5
- Young Adult-Middle Age (22-59): 11
- Older Adult (60-84): 1
- Elderly (85+): 0
By race, the cases include 94 white, 22 black and one Asian.
The state reported 283 new cases, which appeared to be a spike for one day, but Gov. Andy Beshear cautioned that number could be high because of a lag in lab reports from the Memorial Day holiday.
“Today’s report is up, and up a fair amount, in cases. We’ll have to wait the next couple days to see whether it is just labs getting caught up from the weekend or whether it is in and of itself significant and something we’ll see moving forward,” he said, a news release following his daily briefing Friday. “If you look at the last four days on average, it would be 158 cases per day.”
As of Friday, there had been 9,464 coronavirus cases confirmed in Kentucky.
Beshear reported nine deaths, bringing the state’s death toll from the virus to 418.
The deaths included men, ages 55,, 74 and 88, and women, ages 70, 83 and 90, from Butler County; two men, ages 64 and 68, from Gallatin County; and a 55-year-old man from Oldham County.
